Extensions

Deferred additions the design already foresees.

extensions.md · 564 lines · 16 min read

The bag of extensions annotated as “future direction” throughout the design: additions that the curation foresaw but pulled out of the first cut. They are of two natures, separated by the tier model (§1):

  1. Additions to an existing package (they extend a tier 0/1 already designed, not a new lib): compression, post-quantum (crypto.pq), fuzzing (test), and the file-watching primitive (fs).
  2. New tier 1 libs (specialized, opt-in): compress, serialization formats, linalg, intl (i18n), tzdata, watch.

Same yardstick as always: colorless, no null, honest names, structural satisfaction; each one only depends downward. The heavy pieces, i18n phase 2 (full ICU) and the BLAS backend of linalg, come written as sketch/surface, with implementation deferred.
